About Me

Hello! My name is LuAnn Arena, founder of funkykittyproductions. I am a professional, freelance designer based in Beacon, NY, specializing in poster + print design, illustration and logo design, as well as clean, minimalist web design.

I received a BFA in Graphic Design in 2005 at SUNY New Paltz and have been steadily growing my business ever since. In addition to my own clients, I have worked on a wide range of projects as a contract designer under several incredible art directors. Here are just a few of those projects:

• SEGD—Society for Environmental Graphic Design Magazine, an international publication about the intersection of communication design and the built environment. See the 25th Anniversary issue here. 2009 Winner SNAP Awards for General Excellence and Design Excellence.

• New Art International—An art annual showcasing active artists from around the world.

• Inspire Magazine—A magazine celebrating the people, companies and causes that inspire us to give back.

Miscellany:

• I have a strong background in art history which helps to inform and inspire much of what I do to creatively.
• I love to travel, learn and grow.
• I have been a musician for the better part of my life.
• My first love has always been, and always will be, to create, whether it be pencil on paper or fingers to strings, it’s all the same incredible journey.

It is my intention with this blog, to provide what I find to be the most relevant discussions, philosophies, and examples of art and design, past and present. I will offer my personal design process, as well as interviews with other artists sharing their creative process and personal philosophies. Much is in the works, I do hope you enjoy.
