I don’t know if anyone but spammers ‘read’ this blog or who I’m really talking to but, whatever, who cares. I’m having fun.
So, what a cool art project. Free art given away in the streets. No submission fees and everyone is welcome to submit. I like that kind of spirit, no exclusions. Because what is art anyway? What is creativity? And who is to judge another’s self-expression? Is there a right or wrong to that? How could there be?
What started in Berlin 5 years ago is now spreading around the globe and I am most humbly happy to be taking part. I am submitting what began as the first poster for The Fearless Poster Project. Well, that never got off the ground for a variety of reasons, but nonetheless, I had this image, Lotus Fire Freedom, just ready & waiting to be used, so there you go. Recycled art!! (Preview the image here) The piece will be an 11 x 17 poster, 11 copies, signed & numbered. Oh yeah, that’s part of the deal, the art has to be rollable so that can be delivered ‘papergirl style’.
Shows of the art take place before the art is given away.
Dumbo Art Center, Brooklyn Aug. 24-25
Armory in Manhattan, NYC Aug. 27-29
Marketplace Gallery, Albany NY Sept. 3-6
If free art can make even one person happy, PaperGirl has triumphed. Where one triumphs, all triumph…
